All candidates should have an emerging or established program of research with evidence of external funding or the potential for generating external funding. The Department welcomes scholars who conduct policy-relevant, publicly engaged scholarship and who collaborate with community-based organizations, nonprofits and NGOs, and/or government agencies. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to UMass Boston’s anti-racist and health promotion mission. The Department welcomes experts in both qualitative and quantitative methodologies. Candidates should have strong research skills that enable them to contribute to the methods and/or statistics training core curriculum. A focus on the impact of a transition to a green economy on vulnerable communities is desirable. The Department emphasizes research specializations in environmental studies, health policy, international and/or comparative expertise on social, economic, and political inequity in this search. Priority will be given to candidates with expertise in racial, disparities, gender inequality and intersectional approaches to inequities, as well as health care and/or climate change risks.
